Beale Street

Beale Street is a famous area in Memphis, TN, where all the tourists go. Turns out, I didn’t know it was famous when I went there; I found a BBQ place first, and it happened to be on that street.

It’s Sunday night. It was just pouring buckets of rain two hours ago. It can’t be that busy tonight, right?

The neon lights remind me of Vegas. With no tall buildings. A very flat Vegas. With no cars. This is Vegas if you built it in Europe.

Even the gift shops have neon signs!

The barbecue place I go to is Pig on Beale. They specialize in ribs so naturally I get an order. Why didn’t I take pictures of them? I don’t know. They were some good ribs.

For some reason I felt like more food, so I went up the block to Blues City Cafe. Where I got the best table service ever for a one-person table ordering nothing but a cup of gumbo and a sweet tea. The waitress would not let my sweet tea go less than half full.

I’m feelin’ the Southern hospitality!
