I got pulled over for what!?
For driving 4 miles over the speed limit.
In LA, going 4 mph over the speed limit, you’d be ticketed for driving too slowly.
Perhaps this is common in Arizona: this guy was stopped for going 3 mph over the limit.
My guess is that the cop was just looking for a reason to inspect my car. He tailed me for a good two minutes (during which I didn’t give him a single thing to stop me for), and when he walked over to my car, the first thing he did was an incredibly obvious plain view inspection. He didn’t ask me any questions, which was perhaps prescient of him because I wouldn’t have answered.
That was the second run-in with a cop I had on the Arizona highway. The first one was while I was just outside of Tucson, about an hour earlier. I’m driving along through mildly heavy traffic, in the leftmost lane of a three-lane freeway. A cop pulls up behind me, and turns on his lightsand sirens.
I’m looking around, trying to figure out what I did. Speed is good, lights are working, not tailgating the car in front of me, blinkers are off, what else? I signal right and move over a lane.
Turns out, he just wanted to pass me.
