Nighttime on the 30
The sun sets on the I-30, from Austin to Texarkana. And the moon rises, in brilliant orange.
That’s the real color of the moon. The white balance is set correctly: note the lit sign on the ground.
I needed an exposure of half a second to shoot the moon (ha ha), so I pulled into a small truck stop and wandered around for about half an hour until I could find a place with a clear view of the moon.
The right spot ended up on the side of the service road beside the highway, next to what I think was a manure warehouse (it sure smelled like one at least).
I then spent 15 minutes trying to figure out how to get back on the freeway from the service road.
